Captains Test

Know the following items:

  1. Boat reservation sheet: you can only reserve club boats 3 times in the same week; know how to check the sheet to see if anyone else has a boat reserved
  2. Log Book: fill in log book correctly when you take the boat out, and when you return
  3. PFDs: know where to locate the PFDs, attach one to your person
  4. Identify club vs. private oars/boats
  5. Taking the boat off the rack: remove boat safely from rack, without bumping riggers against anything and without bumping boats around you; do not step over/straddle hulls below you nor walk over hulls on your way to/from the dock
  6. Putting boat in the water safely, without touching fin to dock
  7. Row to the end of the marina "inlet", turn, row back to dock and land proficiently enough to satisfy the Captain
  8. Remove boat from water without touching fin to dock
  9. Return boat to racks without bumping riggers against anything and without bumping boats around you; do not step over/straddle hulls below you nor walk over hulls on your way to/from the dock
  10. Log into log book
  11. Be able to verbally review traffic pattern (as sighted on the back of the log book)
  12. Verbally tell what to do if you flip (stay with the hull, get out of the water, etc).
  13. Be able to answer one bonus question: either about not walking in the wetlands, where we can/cannot park, etc.
